Murmurs and Microsleep
9/1/2025, September, the year enters that time again, where it mimics Fall, but it never quite gets super duper old at all here. The atmosphere is still my favorite.
6:12 AM.
I clocked out from my shift super ultra tired last night ! and it wasn't too long before I ended up curled up on my bed with my fluffy kitty cat. I wanted to add though that I do sometimes have instances of microsleep, and my dreams carrying on from each dream to dream no matter what. At around 12:30, it seems I fell half asleep for around 5-10 minutes most likely. Around that time I had a dream which felt incredibly distant, yet so close.
I had this dream with this dark tv screen in a room, and a friend was there, just standing there, I kept trying to talk but it kept flicking on and off like a tv itself. The static was warm and fuzzy but I could certainly "feel" it. I could feel this great distance being closed though, it was the strangest thing since microsleep dreams tend to be.
It was again, probably only about 10 minutes later which felt like hours of sleep. I woke up with my head on my cat as my pillow as she and I were sleeping together and I had inadvertently (sadly!) drooled all over her...ooops! She didn't care though, she just like being close to her mom. Horray!
It was just silly...such a distant dream with undeniable warmth and then the juxtaposition of my head on this nice soft fluffy kitty...and the subsequent drool everywhere.
Afterwards I was already overcome with somnolence, so I sequestered myself to bed again and...here I am at 6 am, hopefully about 2 go back to sleep of course! UwU
mm though...today's Labor day, I get to work, meaning I get time and a half! Wahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then I've got some important tasks to attend to through the week, I've been following up on some goals of mine, and have been attaining them. I still affix my gaze upward, often, attempting to imagine the stars in my ceiling, as I lay down on my bed, it's super nice like that...!
I think before I go though,I'll share some of my work stories, at least one from today.
I had a client who brought in a desktop to upgrade to Windows 11, simple right?
Welllll.....this desktop was from 2006. That alone was already a dead giveaway we couldn't do anything.(you can using rufus, but we aren't allowed at my job) Even if it was upgraded though it was absolutely not worth it. The worst part though is...AND I don't know how this happens but my goodness, the insides were particularly beyond redemption; multiple inches of dust, a mysterious dark brown fluid all over one of his hard drive that smelled like blood and old rust, the strangely modern DIMMs and his pc struggling to boot upon turning on.
In spite of this, in spite of its faults, it was a soldier through and through. The client was having other issues too but, the age and the state inside the computer, even after a full cleaning, dusting...his issues do pertain to his failing drives and his 2006 hardware. What I ended up doing was taking all three of his hard drives out, transferring them one by one onto an external, and organizing them all cutely...the best part, I should bring bows next...hehe.
I found this one stuck out to me because it was so disgusting inside of it that, I cannot dully describe it, but through precision and hard work!!
I always harbor lots of other stories I want to share with people too but I am tired after all. >~<
Hm, I'm also in charge of Apple services at my location, mainly doing the repairs, sorting through all their related issues and whatnot and I suppose I can give a tip for people who have iPhones: one of the only exposed parts is the top speaker, if you do not keep your phone clean, I assure you debris will get into the top speaker and eventually make it practically inaudible.
I cannot count how many phones I've seen covered in some strange form of otherworldly decay, but certain issues like audio quality can be prevented with proper cleaning! So, watch that top speaker! I also still do not like, nor support and condone Apple, but for those which have the devices I know most of what there is to know about them, public and internal.
I will say, I have worked on quite the smorgasbord of iPhones at this point, and they all do have such similar internal designs. In terms of my favorites, I love the insides of the newer ones; they have this big cute metal shield. I like the 13 internals too, the 13 mini is so funny to me because it's so so tiny the battery is like...so small. so. cute. The SE 2nd generation is cute too, so tiny. 13s have been known to have a certain defect called display separation happen though, but I know how to circumvent that. Older iPhone models had way worse internals though, with very strange overlapping cables, but they instead opened with just a suction cup and some force! These days, you need this big ole machine to heat up the adhesive, and the most fun part is taking it all off.
Non Apple related stories though I had a client who just wanted to transfer data to his new pc, but I had uncovered lots of strange remote access programs, with strange names. Sometimes they had within the app data folder and run underneath the OS as an applet, but they had been dealt with. I am working closely with my College's internship class to assure I continue my studies at my job. This week I'm focusing on various unsigned driver certificates, startup tasks, and services within the kernel.
I was also encouraged to research medical equipment vulnerability, which, that is interesting...! I'll look into that.
My last topic would be something called "AMD Arena," a partner program which gives literal free money for learning about AMD due to my job's partnership with them. To get the points, all the answers are positive towards AMD soo...I just $100 for free hehe! I did learn lots too, the CPU market is ever changing.
The fact that Apple's M chips are all ARM based was always something that was a little confuzzling, but it makes sense when you consider how much money they want to drain out of people. Today I stopped a guy from continuing to use his brand new 1700 dollar iPad...which was INSANE by the way, all he did was edit PDFs. And yes, these people may have money at times but most of the time they were coerced into buying something so ridiculous it's disgusting. Plus, iPads could be fantastic for laptop related workflows, as the M chips are the same on Mac or iPad, but Apple will refuse to add parity for the sake of money of course.
The M chips are great on their own objectively speaking, but they still have the issue of being ARM based. Okei, it isn't much of an issue...because for a Mac workflow, it works fantastic. They feel nice, the brushed aluminum finish keeps them nice and cool and happy, the hardware is great.
It's just backed by evil like every other tech company, ergo: buy refurbished as ALWAYS if possible.
I do think the chips are insanely good for productivity and workflow, but the shortcoming of ARM do creep up from time to time. Even if the M chips were x84 or x64 based.
I sound like...like...A NERD THOUGH >~<
Mwahaha, i wear it with pride...it's the being a nerd while being ethical about it too though, that's my favorite part. I am so glad I got a free pc from my coworker for a testbench, awesome possum. I've got two now.
Uhm otherwise...take care of yourselves everyone, have a good day or a goodnight, and farewell!
